TitleAudit Fees and Non-Audit Fees; an Eight Year Trend
Date May 2011

Authors Mark Cheffers, CPA, ABV, CEO
Don Whalen, Esq. Director of Research

Excerpt Audit Analytics identified 2,613 accelerated filers that disclosed audit fees for every year since 2002, and studied the audit and non-audit fees paid by these filers from 2002 to 2009. In order to adjust for inflation and corporate growth from year to year, Audit Analytics calculated the total fees paid by these filers and divided the fees by the total revenue of the same companies. The analysis found that the companies, after a few years of decline, experienced a slight increase in the ratio of audit fees and non-audit fees over revenue, but that the uptick was due to a decrease in revenues, rather than an increase in fees.
